2008 Season Stories

(April 28, 2008) In Waco this past weekend Doug Hamaker got his PCE (Pro Comp Eliminator) licence and moved into the new class for the qualifying round where he qualified sixth. The finals day (Sunday, April 27) was canceled due to rain. So the qualifing positions were used to assess the final standings. Doug, however, got the Quarter Mile Marketing $100 prize for fastest reaction time (.008 sec.) in the PCE class.

2007 Season Stories and Statistics

(August 7, 2007) The Cowtown Drag Boat Nationals in Fort Worth Marine Creek Lake saw the Hamaker racing team into the Top Eliminator Class (TE) with two perfect passes of half and full track. Doug qualified 17th out of 24 and then electrical problems caused difficulties the rest of the weekend. For a video of his first qualifying run in the TE class click here.

(August 1, 2007) This weekend is the Cowtown Drag Boat Nationals in Fort Worth Marine Creek Lake. The Hamaker team plan to make a license pass in the Top Eliminator (TE) class to test the Haymaker in the nine second class. Depending on how this works out the fate of the Haymaker will be decided for next season.

(July 16, 2007) The Ozarka Bricktown National were canceled after only one partial qualifying round on Saturday July 14. Due to two back-to-back days of heavy rain falls in Northwest Oklahoma the water coming down the North Canadian River was filled with debris and moving way too fast to safely race. The decision was made to cancel the race after exploring all the other possibilities. The only way to award points fairly was to allow only the tech points since not all classes had a chance to make even one qualifying pass. See the results below . The next race is August 5th & 6th Cowtown Nationals in Fort Worth, Texas

(July 6, 2007) One rough season for the Hamaker team. Having to miss one race (Brady, Texas) since the Haymaker was broke and they couldn't fix her in time. Stepping up to the ME class meant stepping into a much larger tougher class. Currently the Haymaker stands in 9th place in overall points. Next week in OKC will be a big opportunity to close some distance on the points front runners with a win!! Pull for the yellow boat!!! See the points for the year below.

(April 29, 2007) In Waco the Hamaker team struggled with the repaired Haymaker. Although Doug turned in an excellent E.T. he was a little slower than his opponent the first heat of the day. Next race is Heart of Texas Thunder in Brady, Texas June 2 & 3.

(April 23, 2007) The Hamaker team decided to step it up a notch and compete for the ME (Modified Eliminator) class this season. The new and improved Haymaker made her debut in the IHBA season opener in Chandler, Arizona. With a respectable 10.003 qualifying time Doug Hamaker had a bit of a rocky start on race day with a .002 red-light. To top it off it appears that she may have blown a head gasket.

It will be nip and tuck to make it to the season opener in Waco's Dual on the Brazos this weekend! Check back here to see what happens next.
