Hamaker Racing Puts One in the Win Column Their
Rookie Year

Winner of the 2006 Bricktown Nationals takes the High Points Champion in the Southern Drag Boat Association's SE Class

Doug Hamaker drove his Haymaker 125, Tom Papp hull and 572 Chevrolet crate motor to the number one points position in the Southern Drag Boat Association's (SDBA) Stock Eliminator (SE) Class.

The 2006 season brought a lot of surprises and brought a lot of new friends to the table. Gary Snow and Joe Bressie among others helped with tuning and advise. All the race teams in the SDBA where informative and helpful. The whole team being rookies this all aided to the teams understanding and overall strategy. And as is the case in any racing game luck played it's roll and the team wasn't dillusional to think that all this came thier way by skill and talent.

Doug Hamaker did however, display a great measure of consistancy which helped add heats to the win column. His reaction times were good from day one and improved as the season (and he) matured. He figured out how to make the Haymaker run consistant ETs and with that came consistant placements.
